antoine - who can he be?

Let’s hear from Simon Ross:

“Antoine is a photographer in Sydney where he lives with his family and other pets. An inveterate hoarder, he has rarely sold a camera dating back to the Nikkormat he started with in 1974.

He is an avid reader and collector of books on photography and is currently engrossed in the photo-works of Boogie, Winogrand and Eskenazi as well as the essays of Dyer, Adams and Berger.

Antoine’s body of work spans five decades. He mainly enjoys street photography but can also be found dabbling in performance and studio photography.”

Many thanks to Simon Ross, who is also a photographer and pretty nifty with a camera. You can see what Simon shoots by browsing his website.

I was fortunate to contribute words and photos to The Antipodean Photographer, one of Simon’s many creative ideas that he established to explore the alchemy of pictures and words.

I have been active in two collectives: The Photographers Corner and Videre Collective, where I enjoyed the company of eclectics who feel compelled to create photographs.

Lately, I’ve been enjoying my time as family patriarch - capturing the poignant and fun moments of life spent with a loving family.

My Credo is based on the words of Paul Strand:

I photograph the mundane surrounding me as a record of my living and,

affected as I am by other people’s ways,

I strive to free myself of them to reach my own.
